ABOUT
Karena Schlatter loves being active in nature and desires others to live healthy so they too can do what they love. Throughout her life she's enjoyed swimming, gymnastics,
ballet, waterskiing, paddle-boarding, snow-skiing, working out, hiking, long walks and recently aerial. As much as she enjoys being active she also loves academia and studying human behavior. A licensed drug and alcohol counselor working in social services gained her even greater perspective on our collective need for play and adventure. In recent years she became both a certified professional ski instructor and a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer. Soon after she sustained a severe knee injury and having recently been diagnosed with connective tissue disease (an autoimmune disease) she wasn't healing well. That’s when she discovered Active Isolated Stretching & Strengthening. Initially a patient receiving AIS(S) treatment to regain range of motion in her knee she soon became a devoted enthusiast recognizing the immense overall health benefits; especially those to her immune system. Karena has since witnessed professional football players receive routine Active Isolated Stretching and Strengthening to overcome post-surgery limitations as well as, for some, to remain injury free during an entire season, a diabetic feel sensation in her feet after just 1 treatment previously feeling nothing but neuropathy pain the preceding 10 years, and many "desk-dwellers" get relief from chronic neck and low back pain all due, in part, to receiving regular and consistent Active Isolated Stretching & Strengthening. AIS(S) treatments speak for themselves and Karena lives to tell!

Active Isolated Stretching is very detailed in its approach. AIS sessions typically take more than one hour. The AIS approach is to lengthen “every” muscle that connects or surrounds the problem area. Each pain problem involves “a series” of distorted muscles. A one hour session will give you an idea of what the treatment is like. However, if you want to eliminate your pain, you have to put in the time.

I've struggled my whole life with ankle sprains and ligament issues. As an artist and active hiker/dog walker its been a frustration for me to have physical setbacks. Karena listened carefully to all of my symptoms. She highly recommended I try Active Isolated Stretching before going the surgery route. At first I was extremely hesitate because my feet are so sensitive I never let anyone touch them. However, she stretched every muscle from my hips to my toes. I never realized the connection of how posture and hips would affect my ankles. During the time Karena was working on me I was also going to Physical Therapy wherein I'd been at a standstill not making any recent progress. Karena really helped me relax, gain flexibility and strength in my ankles and hips. I felt as if my hips were open which really allowed for my posture to straighten up and my feet to feel lighter. The pains in my ankle went away after a few sessions with Karena. I cannot wait for my next session with Karena she's an amazing listener and stretcher!
